Low income residential improvement programme

Low income residential improvement programme

Our efforts were focussed on understanding which interventions would make the most valuable contribution to the on-going sustainability of local public benefit organisations. The first leg of the programme involved assessing over 150 building nationally and designing energy efficiency, water conservation and occupant health improvement opportunities which would add the most value to the beneficiaries.

Energy efficient lighting – social carbon programme

South Africa’s electrical supply is generated through so-called ‘dirty power’, the result of our inefficient coal-fired power plants. We specifically target low income households, subsidised housing and special needs centres such as old age homes, orphanages and shelters. These residents benefit directly from the savings in the cost of energy and the lamps are provided free of charge.
